U-Green
Inaugural conference

Monday, December 18, 2023 - 14:53

On Thursday December 14, 2023, HEPL organized its inaugural conference of the U-GREEN label project.

U-GREEN, a green label

U-GREEN is the result of cooperation between different higher education institutions, to promote the green transition and sustainable practices in education and training.

This project aims to facilitate the green transition of educational institutions in Europe.

Education professionals must train the next generation, transfer knowledge to solve environmental and social problems, and finally adopt sustainable practices.

U-GREEN seeks to improve the readiness of institutions by defining guidelines, creating a label to assess their sustainability, providing online training for U-Green experts, and developing an educational resource platform to promote the European green deal.

It is a way of acting as a catalyst for behavioral change and the promotion of green skills, at the heart of the new generation of engaged European citizens.

Inaugural conference

At Campus 2000, on December 14, several speakers took turns to present this green approach to partners of the HEPL and students specializing in this field.

Stéphane Monfils, teacher in the Bachelor of Alternative and Renewable Energies, and Christophe Close, provincial beekeeper, spoke about the objectives of the project but also presented our connected urban hives, a good example of an initiative linked to the U-GREEN approach.

The day ended with Focus 2030, an activity which allows citizens and associations to evaluate their actions with regard to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda.

It is a good way to train tomorrow’s citizens.
